  • Internship: Removal of medicines and antibiotic resistant bacteria from wastewater

    The goal of this internship or graduation project is to develop and optimize our oxidation and absorption pilot systems for the removal of medicines and resistant bacteria from wastewater. The internship project will be carried out by performing a series of laboratory and pilot experiments to find the optimal operational conditions and process design. Furthermore, an estimation of the investment and running costs will be investigated based on the experiments for these different systems

  • Internship: Downstream sludge treatment

    The goal of this internship or graduation assignment is to investigate effects of sludge types and polymer use on sludge dewaterability using a dewatering system and compare our lab protocol to pilot results. A pilot has been built to be placed on site and a lab method has been developed. During this internship or graduation project you will look into optimizing the process settings of the dewatering system in combination with the sludge producing treatment step and further develop the lab method. This will encompass experimentation on site as well as lab experimentation.

    The goal of this internship or graduation project is to develop and further optimize the Nijhuis system for nutrient recovery. During this internship assignment you will conduct a series of laboratory experiments, to support the design of new pilot plant. In addition, you will prepare an economical study including an estimation of the investment and running costs to compare the green fertilizer production to conventional fertilizers.

  • Internship: Membrane filtration for water reuse

    The goal of this internship or graduation project is to optimize a standardise the Nijhuis membrane systems. During this internship assignment you will develop a laboratory experiment to determine the optimal design parameters for a membrane system. This experiment is based on a flux step method and will be used to design a dead-end ultrafiltration unit. In addition, you will prepare a calculation tool which translates the design parameters form the lab experiment into a global design of a full-scale plant.

  • Internship: Electrocoagulation for the removal of pollutants from wastewater

    The goal of this internship or graduation project is to develop, design and test an electrocoagulation system for the removal of pollutants from wastewater. During that assignment, series of pilot and some lab scale experiments will be performed. The data collected will be analysed and translated in use for a full-scale design of electrocoagulation cell. Moreover, an estimation of the investment and operational costs will be investigated based on the experiments.
