#WaterAndHealth - Keep Installation and Commissioning Work Going

The effect of travel restrictions on the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has had a major impact on the supply chain. The global and local suppliers of several (vital) industries who support with the installation and commissioning of systems and product lines and utilities like power, chemicals and water, face major challenges to physically perform their work on site. Adaption is key during this crisis.

Therefore, remote technical assistance is a helpful tool for installation and commissioning of new or refurbished wastewater, treatment plant and cooling towers within the project timescale. The Nijhuis Industries Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Site Engineers are ready to support local contractors via virtual assistance.

The Nijhuis Industries team is happy to share their tips and tricks for the smart use of the remote technical assistance tools:

Step 1:

Make operators available and let them communicate via a digital video connection with the Nijhuis Industries commissioning engineers. The operator needs a webcam camera on their helmet, a headset and a microphone. The internet connection must function well.

Step 2:

The operator is following the training and instructions regarding the start-up and operations of the installation that the commissioning engineer gives him from the office.

Step 3:

In close collaboration with the customer, Nijhuis Industries can log into the e-panel to read current process data

Step 4:

The Nijhuis Industries team can now see what happens in the installation. Based on the data and video images, we can manage and train the operator better.

Project Example: Remote Technical Assistance

Since the global break-out of the pandemic, the Nijhuis Industries team has successfully accelerated on working from distance due to travel restrictions. The worldwide technical experts are nowadays not always able to physically support local engineers and operators, so for several projects around the globe we are giving online installation and commissioning support. In combination with an i-MONITORING contract, engineers and operators have the best possibility to receive data from the plant and change the settings via remote access to maximize performance and guarantee effluent discharge.

Below a communication example between two experts (HQ technical expert and local engineer/operator) who are both working on a water project in Pakistan and Hongkong, which both have been successfully commissioned during the COVID-19 outbreak.
