Internship: Membrane filtration for water reuse

The availability of water is becoming a critical factor in industrial production. To expand their production capacity, our customers are looking for water reuse. The core of a water reuse system is in general an ultrafiltration followed by a reverse osmosis membrane system.

Goal and activities

The goal of this internship or graduation project is to optimize a standardise the Nijhuis membrane systems. During this internship assignment you will develop a laboratory experiment to determine the optimal design parameters for a membrane system. This experiment is based on a flux step method and will be used to design a dead-end ultrafiltration unit. In addition, you will prepare a calculation tool which translates the design parameters form the lab experiment into a global design of a full-scale plant.

Type of education: BSc or MSc Chemical, (Bio)Process or Environmental Engineering

Location: Nijhuis Water Technology, Doetinchem

Duration: 4 – 6 months

Start: February 2019
